|Assumed Knowledge||It is advised to pre-learn day shapes and lights prior to joining this course|
|Course Content||Knowledge of safety on board, parts of a boat, rigging and sails, anchoring, emergency procedures, meteorology, navigation including position fixing, plotting, tidal height and drift, pilotage, passage planning, course to steer, estimated position and collision regs. The course includes two test papers covering general assessment and chart work|
|Expected Learning Outcome||This course is the ideal method to advance to your next level – Day Skipper Practical Course on board the yacht. On successful completion you will receive an official RYA certificate signed by your Instructor|

RYA Tidal Day Skipper Theory Course - Shorebased Course
This course offers aspiring yacht skippers a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of theory including chart work, navigation and meteorology together with basic seamanship. A starting point for those wishing to learn to lead a crew and take control of a sailing yacht by making decisions as skipper on board. This theory course is delivered in our purpose built, air conditioned classroom with a maximum of 4 students.
